New Field Manager Named

Mathew Petrossi – New Field Manager

WATERTOWN RAPIDS NAME MATTHEW PETROSSI NEW FIELD MANAGER

The Watertown Rapids of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League has named Matthew Petrossi as the team’s new field manager for theupcoming 2024 season. Team owners and the entire organization are extremely excited to welcome Matthew to the organization to lead the team in this exciting new chapter of Watertown baseball history.

Matt is a native of Rochester, NY where he graduated from Fairport High School. He went on to begin his collegiate career at Monroe Community College in his hometown of Rochester. There he helped the Tribunes make back-to-back World Series appearances in 2018 and 2019 as a starting pitcher, compiling an 11-4 record in two seasons.

Following his time at Monroe, Matt received a scholarship to pitch at the University of Pikeville (NAIA) in Kentucky. COVID-19 shortened his stint there and the following year he transferred to SUNY Oneonta to finish up his playing career.

After graduating from Oneonta in 2022 he returned as the Pitching Coach for the Red Dragons for the 2023 season and during the fall of 2024. Matt was recently hired as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator as he heads back to Monroe Community College for the 2024 college season.

Matt will begin his tenure in Watertown to manage the Rapids as they open their season on Friday, May 31, against the Oneonta Outlaws at historic Alex T. Duffy Stadium.

“I am super excited for this opportunity to lead the Rapids on the field and am thankful to team owners Dave Oster and Tyler Weese, for giving me this opportunity and supporting me in these early stages of building our 2024 team. I am looking forward to making Watertown my summer home and hope to give the community of Watertown a proud product to cheer on this summer.” This will be Petrossi’s first year as Rapids manager as he replaces Mike Kogut who managed the team the past two seasons.
